Want to do it yourself? Fam Special!

This is for private boaters and professional guides who know how to run good hard class III to class VI whitewater. Open to anyone who has the skills to do it themselves. We reserve the right to let our gear out on Class V . So come up with some sort of resume or some good stories anyway. We might make some exceptions. This special runs from October 1st to December 15th - 2007- For -$79- per day.

It includes a local guide so you will not get lost, food, river gear rental, transportation to and from one of the three rivers inside Kalinga, a place to stay at a local hostel, and the use of our kayaks, inflatable kayaks, rafts and Boogie Boards. Or you are welcome to bring your own gear. Thats how we got ours. Instruction is also available from trained Chico River Quest guides. The Fam does not include Airfare to and from Kalinga. Please limit the size of the groups to 10 guests per day. Reservations are required.

The rivers of Kalinga are class III to class V. Our runs can be 40 miles in length. Most traverse roadless areas. Kalinga is steep and mountainous in many areas. The elevations run from 1,000 to 9,000 feet and Kalinga roads can be difficult if it rains. Chico River Quest has been running the Chico River, Pasil River and the Saltan River for the last 10 years. Like most rivers they have cut-off levels when the big rains hit. Rains begin in May to June most years. By September the rains slow down but the Typhoons are still in full season. With November the temperature drops as cooler weather falls on the Philippines. It is cooler still in January and hiking is the best. The dry season runs from February to May.
